A Depression Switch? - New York Times

Area 25--where neurosurgeos bomb away depression. This is an exciting new neurosurgical approach to depression treatment, in its efficacy, but also in its approach of honing in on an area of the brain wherein emotional states reside as opposed to approaches which treat the brain globally, via e.g. anti-serotonin agents or electroconvulsive therapy...

A Depression Switch? - New York Times: "Along with redirecting research, the quieting of Area 25 may also change our conception of depression from a condition in which something is lacking — self-esteem, resilience, optimism, energy, serotonin, you name it — to one in which an active agent makes a person sick."
