I think most individuals reading this article would respond in a positve way as on some level,we have the intuition, that we are all children of God, however you wish to phrase it. To sit by passively and allow suffering to persist unabated, especially when the means exist to abrogate it, makes any reasonable individual with a nervous system or an ounce of decency uncomfortable. Yes, "we " must do the right thing but it is all to easy to become complacent especially when it is "over there" or really not part of one's experience. Bono is correct, love thy neighbor is a command, not a feel good sentiment. He is right on in reminding us of this most difficult and fundamental element that makes our humanity a living thing, not a slogan. I prophesy, with apologies to the preacher man, that if these images, this press, the compelling need, the overwhelming magnitude of human suffering and poverty were made more immediate to those of us in the world (WEST) with the resources to address them (by whatever means in this electronic age) that the plight of our brothers and sisters who suffer would begin to change. Everyone knows about Brad and Angelina--how's about the real world. It call for nothing short of a revolution, or perhaps a recussitation of the sprit of individual hearts will do it. Right on Bono.
